The mixing board is made of extra high density, UV stabilized polyethylene. It is durable, lightweight, and easy to clean after mixing plaster. It is not affected by heat and cold, rust, plaster, mortar and water. Dry plaster will not stick to its surface, so clean up is easy.
The mixing board won't suck the moisture out of your plaster like wooden boards or evaporate the water out like steel boards in hotter temperatures. With a solid flexible, plastic working surface, the mixing board reduces retempering (adding water to dried plaster) and increases plaster board life by as much as 20 to 25 minutes.
If you're retempering plaster, you run the risk of changing the color, as well as the strength and consistency of the plaster. Basically, each time you add more water to the plaster, you're diluting the power of the plaster mix. The key for plasterers to achieve better plaster and faster output is to make sure that they have an optimal plaster mix with longer board life.
