Description

The Rublev Colours Complete Flesh Tint Watercolor Palette includes all the colors you need to do a complete range of flesh tones in watercolor. These colors can be blended and used interchangeably with other watercolors.

Rublev Colours Watercolors are based on single, natural mineral and historical pigments that give you the authentic colors of past watercolors masters. Rublev Colours features such genuine watercolors as natural Ultramarine (Lapis Lazuli), Azurite, Malachite, among many others. These single pigment paints available in moist (tubes) and semi-moist (pans) watercolors are made with the same pigments used by masters of past centuries. While the trend today in commercial watercolors is to suppress pigment textures in favor of homogeneous, flat color, the earth and mineral pigments used in Rublev Colours Watercolors feature larger particles that produce granulation effects without the use of surfactants, such as ox gall.

The Complete Flesh Tint Watercolor Palette includes one 15 ml tube each of:

Colors

Ultramarine Blue is a synthetic inorganic blue pigment consisting of a double silicate of aluminum and sodium with sulfide and occurs in nature as a component of the semi-precious stone, lapis lazuli. Processes to make the artificial pigment were devised by Jean Baptiste Guimet (1826) and by Christian Gmelin (1828); but while Guimet kept his process a secret, Gmelin published his and thus became the inventor of "artificial ultramarine." 15ml $11.00
Nicosia Green Earth is a transparent deep green with blue undertones. This green earth pigment is from deposits in Cyprus. In mixtures with Ercolano red, it can be used to make a wide range of flesh tones and with it forms a complementary dyad. 15 ml $11.00
Blue Ridge Yellow Ocher is a yellow iron oxide earth pigment from a natural mixture of minerals obtained from deposits in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Blue Ridge Yellow Ocher is not a true mineral but a mixture of similar hydrated iron oxide minerals. Blue Ridge Yellow Ocher is mostly made up of the mineral goethite. 15 ml $9.90
Ercolano Red is an semi-transparent red with good tinting strength. Our red earth is a single pigment color from ochre deposits in Italy. Red ochres are broken or indefinite colors, that is a mixture of colors. This pigment contributes a russet orange color, and is very useful when combined with cobalt or ultramarine in forming warm grays for the shadows of flesh and of clouds. 15 ml $11.00
Red Sartorius Earth is a semi-opaque, deep warm red earth with warm tints. Our red earth comes from quarries in Northern Italy. This brownish red is an excellent bridge between red earth and umber. 15 ml $11.00
Cyprus Burnt Umber is an semi-transparent brown with good tinting strength. Our brown umber is a single pigment color from umber deposits in Italy. This is a fine deep color used in the warm rich browns of the underpainting of dark flesh tones and the foreground in landscapes. When mixed with indigo or ultramarine, it forms a deep neutral green, very effective in representing the shadows of trees in water. 15 ml $11.00
Total $64.90

Note: Colors swatches show color in mass tone, straight from the tube, on the left, and brushed out to the right.
