MIXOL® Multi-Purpose Tinting Paste
Not a ready-made paint – but a binder-free, highly concentrated tinting paste for universal use.
✔️ Key Features:-
Binder-Free & Versatile: MIXOL® is a universal tinting paste for a wide range of applications.
-
Extremely Concentrated: Only a minimal amount is needed to achieve vibrant results.
-
Temperature Resistant: Stands up to frost and heat. If frozen, simply thaw at room temperature and shake thoroughly.
-
Long Shelf Life: Does not dry out or form lumps when properly sealed.
-
Shake well before use. Always seal tightly after use to prevent drying or clumping.
-
Add MIXOL® first, then the thinner if required.
-
Always perform a rub test to ensure proper mixing and compatibility:
-
Brush on a sample.
-
Rub immediately with your finger.
-
If it darkens, stir again thoroughly and retest.
-
-
Up to 10% – Latex/emulsion paints
-
5–8% – Paints, lacquers, varnishes, high-solids
-
6% – Acrylic paints
-
3–5% – Transparent/clear lacquers, glazes, wood stains, waxes
-
3% – Silicate and silicone paints/coatings
➡️ Refer to the MIXOL® colour chart for specific mixing percentages.
⚠️ Important Compatibility Notes:-
Only use MIXOL® oxide tints (red cap) in:
-
Varnishes low in or free from aromatic compounds
-
Silicate/silicone resin paints
-
-
Non-oxide tints (no red cap) are unsuitable for:
-
Solvent-based latex emulsions
-
Polyester resins
-
1- and 2-component synthetic resin paints
-
If hand-mixing fails, a mechanical stirrer is recommended to prevent “rub-out” effects and ensure even distribution.
🎨 Interior vs. Exterior Use:-
Indoor Only Colors: No. 6, 7, 10, 18
-
Outdoor Alternatives:
-
Use No. 26 (True Yellow), No. 27 (True Red), or No. 30 (Oxide Brilliant Yellow) instead of No. 7 (Canary Yellow) and No. 10 (Red).
-
For indoor pickling or liming effects (e.g. on raw wood), try:
-
White No. 25 – a multipurpose concentrate perfect for adding to colorless coatings and transparent finishes.
Mixing 1 bottle (20 ml) of MIXOL® into 1 liter of white paint can result in the following concentrations:
-
8% for 375 ml paint
-
4% for 750 ml paint
-
1.6% for 2.5 L paint
…and so on.
(Note: Results vary depending on the titanium dioxide content of the base paint.)
-
LW / LW Oxide Types: Lightfast and weatherproof – ideal for indoor and outdoor use
-
L Types: For indoor use only
