Pt Flex Series Polyurethane Rubber - A Versatile Material for Various Applications
The Pt Flex Series Polyurethane Rubber is a two-component, fast-setting material that cures at room temperature. It is available in a range of hardnesses, making it an excellent choice for prototyping, model making, and production parts. This rubber is suitable for casting a variety of items, including production parts, props, tools, and more. Its fast-setting properties and excellent flow characteristics make it an ideal material for creating accurate and detailed replicas.
Preparation and Application
Before using the Pt Flex Series Polyurethane Rubber, ensure that the model or surface is properly prepared. This includes sealing porous surfaces with a suitable sealer, such as paste wax or PolyCoat, and applying a release agent to prevent the rubber from bonding to the model. Mix the rubber according to the instructions, and pour it into the mold. Allow it to cure at room temperature, and demold after the recommended time.
Customizing the Rubber Properties
The Pt Flex Series Polyurethane Rubber can be customized to achieve specific properties. Add Poly 74/75 Part C Softener to reduce the viscosity and create a softer cured rubber. Alternatively, add Poly 74/75 Part X Accelerator to increase the curing speed. You can also add PolyFiber II or Fumed Silica to thicken the liquid mix for brush-on application. Finally, use PolyColor Dyes to create unique rubber colors.
Using the Mold
Once the rubber is cured, you can use the mold to create multiple copies of the original model. Typically, no release agent is necessary when casting plaster or wax in Pt Flex molds. However, for casting resin, concrete, or other materials, apply a suitable release agent to ensure easy demolding. With proper care, Pt Flex molds can last for many years, even with repeated use.
Safety and Storage
When working with the Pt Flex Series Polyurethane Rubber, ensure that you follow all safety precautions and directions. Wear protective gloves and eyewear, and work in a well-ventilated area. Store the products in unopened containers at room temperature, and use them within six months from date of shipment. Always read the Safety Data Sheets and product labels before use.
