What is Compat™ 45?
Compat™ 45 is a unique urethane rubber that will not inhibit the cure of most Smooth-On platinum or tin cure silicone rubbers. This product features a low viscosity for easy mixing and pouring, and cures with minimal bubble entrapment.
Applications
Compat™ 45 can be used for a variety of applications including making molds to cast silicone prop body parts, animatronic skins, and medical trainers. Additionally, it can be used for making rubber masters that can be molded using platinum or tin silicone without inhibition concerns.
Key Features
Compat™ 45 has a mix ratio of 1A:1B by volume (85A:100B by weight), a pot life of 25 minutes, and an ultimate Shore hardness of Shore 45A. The cured rubber is dimensionally stable, offers good wear resistance, and excellent library life.
Preparation and Mixing
When working with Compat™ 45, it's essential to prepare your model by storing and using it at room temperature (73°F/23°C) and in a low humidity environment (below 50% RH). You'll also need to use a release agent made specifically for mold making.
Performance and Storage
Fully cured rubber is tough, durable, and will perform if properly used and stored. Molds should be stored on a level surface at room temperature in a dry environment, and should not be stacked or exposed to moisture or UV light for prolonged periods.
