Introducing Poly-Optic 1411 Clear Casting Resin
Poly-Optic 1411 Clear Casting Resin is a two-part, liquid polyurethane resin that cures to a water-clear, Shore D80 plastic. This product has a simple 1A:1B mix ratio by volume, making it easy to use. Vacuum and/or pressure casting techniques are recommended for this product to ensure optimal results.
Key Features and Benefits
Poly-Optic 1411 Clear Casting Resin is ideal for casting applications where a high level of detail and clarity is required. The resin reproduces minute detail from a mold or pattern, and can be demolded quickly in thin sections. Additionally, it has a simple 1A:1B mix ratio by volume, making it easy to use.
Mold Preparation and Mixing
To ensure optimal results, it is essential to properly prepare the mold surface. The surface must be moisture-free and dry. Ensure that the mold is clean and free of any contaminants. When mixing the resin, make sure to use metal or plastic mixing vessels and spatulas to avoid introducing moisture.
Curing and Demolding
After mixing the resin, pour it into the mold as quickly as possible. Use pre-heated molds to hasten curing and reduce shrinkage. Allow the casting to remain in the mold until it is thoroughly cured. Parts demolded too soon may be subject to deformation.
Accelerating Cure Speed and Retarding Cure Speed
To accelerate the cure speed, Poly-Optic 14 Part X Accelerator can be mixed into Part B prior to adding Part A. This will significantly reduce the pour and cure time. Conversely, to retard the cure speed, Poly-Optic 14 Part R Retarder can be added to the mix. This will slow down the cure and reduce exothermic heating, which can cause distortion and shrinkage.
