Description
Introducing the Smooth-On Equinox™ Series, a revolutionary line of silicone putty products that enable you to create fast mold impressions from almost any surface. This innovative material is mixed in equal amounts (1A:1B) by volume and is available in two variations: Equinox 38, with a pot life of 4 minutes and a cure time of 30 minutes, and Equinox 40, a slow version with a 30-minute pot life and a 5-hour demold time.

With exceptionally strong and durable properties, the Equinox Silicone Putty is ideal for a wide range of applications, including making fast mold impressions from complex surfaces, orthotics, orthopedic, equine hoof repair, jewelry making, and more. The material features low shrinkage, high tensile strength, and excellent heat resistance, making it suitable for casting low-temperature melt metal alloys. What's more, the Equinox Silicone Putty is FOOD SAFE, making it perfect for culinary applications.

To ensure optimal results, it's essential to follow the proper application and safety guidelines. Use the material in a well-ventilated area, wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves to minimize contamination risk. Store and use the material at room temperature (73°F/23°C), as warmer temperatures will reduce the working time and cure time. The Equinox Silicone Putty has a limited shelf life, so it's essential to use it as soon as possible.

Before applying the material, ensure the surface is clean and free of contaminants. In some cases, a clear acrylic lacquer may be necessary to prevent inhibition. Additionally, applying a release agent, such as Ease Release 200, can make demolding easier when pouring into or over most surfaces.

The Equinox Silicone Putty is mixed by hand, and it's crucial to knead the parts together aggressively to a uniform color. Apply the putty quickly and allow it to cure at room temperature before removing it from the model surface. To ensure the best results, post-cure the mold to attain maximum physical and performance properties.

In terms of mold performance and storage, the physical life of the mold depends on how it's used (materials cast, frequency, etc.). Regularly clean the mold with a soap solution and wipe it fully dry before storing it on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.

With the Smooth-On Equinox Series, you can unlock a world of creative possibilities. From jewelry making to culinary applications, this innovative material is the perfect solution for anyone looking to create precise mold impressions with ease.
