This is a high-grade glue made in the U.S. It is a fine mesh granular glue that is easy to dissolve in water. The high-quality grade means it is light in color and the strongest glue available. This makes it ideal for use in gesso and as a medium for distemper painting.
High-grade glue made in the U.S. of pure bovine hides. The glue is manufactured from the protein collagen found in animals' skin, connective tissue, and bones. It is a 40-mesh (U.S. Standard Sieve) granular protein glue that dissolves easily in water. Its lower bloom value (lower than Rabbit Skin Glue) gives it a longer setting time, making it ideal for use in gesso and sizes.
This is a technical grade of gelatin made in the U.S. It is a fine mesh granular gelatin that is easy to dissolve in water. The technical grade means it is the lightest color and the most translucent grade available. This makes it ideal for use in gilding. Many professional gilders prefer gelatin over hide glue because it can take a super burnish easier than hide glue when mixed with gilder's clay or gesso.
High-grade bone glue imported from Italy is made of pure bovine and porcine bone. Bone glue pearls are easy to dissolve in water. Bone glue is typically harder and less flexible than hide or rabbit skin glue and stronger than technical gelatin. Animal glues vary in strength, but bone glue usually offers increased hardness over hide glues and longer open time.
